Cannot browse Microsoft Information Store to perform a restore.

Good morning,

We've got a problem with restoring emails when using backup exec 2012 and Exchange 2010. Before I outline the issue the backups are sucessful and we can restore items using the search functionality (which to be honest is rubbish).

Step 1 - Restore Wizard - Micorsoft Exchange

Step 2 - Micorosft Exchnage mailbox items

Step 3 - Successfully validate all the credentials

Step 4 - The problem, it will not allow us to expand the Microsoft Information Stores and browse individual mailboxes or items to restore

Backup Exec Server:

  • OS: Windows Server 2008R2 (64bit)
  • BE Version: 14.0 Rev. 1798

Exchange Server:

  • OS: Windows Server 2008R2
  • Exchnage Version: 2010 - 14.1 (Build 218.15)

Has anyone got an suggestions or tech articles that might be useful.

Mark

Do you have the Exchange 2010 management tools installed on the Backup Exec server ?

Yes we do, does this need to be the same version that is installed on the Exchange Server?

Yes, if you have SP3 installed on the Exchange server, you should install the exact same version on the BE server (also for rollup pack).

You also can check this topic, it describes the same issue:

...did you perhaps use Advanced Open File Option in your job (which isn't recommended)? If so, you can try duplicating the Information Store to disk first, and then doing the restore from there...

Thanks!
