We are running Backup Exec 2012 1798.1300 64bit all patched etc.
We have 2 Exchange servers in our head office and 1 at our DR site. To facilitate no loss DR we have included the DR site in our DAG. I have no Agent installed on the DR site and have not included the server in the backup job. But the job still fails with the error
Backup- ****EX01.energydev.internal Remote Agent not detected on ****EX01.*****.*****. |
I originally did install the agent on the remote server but the system seemed to default to the DR site. This caused the backups to run for days due to the bandwidth limitation to the remote site. I have uninstalled the Agent and restarted all servers. I have recreated the backup job without the DR site. It still complains about the DR site!

To perform successful backups and restores of exchange we need an agent to be installed on all the CAS and Mailbox servers in the DAG.
Have you tried preferred server configurations for DAG?
Backup Exec 2012 Administrators Guide can be found here : http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5211
On Page 840 it lists the steps to create preferred server configuration for Microsoft Exchange Database Availability Groups:
