Good morning,
I am suddenly getting the following error for one of my backup jobs: "The job failed with the following error: Cannot extract mailbox messages from the Exchange backup." Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

What is your Exchange version ?

Hi,
Do you have the Exchange Management Tools (updated to the same level as what is installed on your Exchange server) installed on your media server?
Please look at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO24128 and verify you have all the Exchange agent requirements in place.

You say suddenly, is there anything changed that may cause this issue ?
If not, try restarting the Exchange server and / or the Backup Exec server to see if that resolves your issue.

I noticed this after updates were installed and the Exchange server was restarted.

Check if there is an Exchange update installed on the Exchange server, and make sure to install the same update (service pack and update rollup) on the Backup Exec media server ass well.
