Catalog Issues

When ever I run a catalog I get the following error message.

V-79-57344-34001 - End of data was encountered before a set map could be located.

I have tried re-inventory the tapes and catalogging but have the same result. What would cause this?

Go to tools -> Options -> Catalogs, and uncheck the box 'Use Storage media-based catalogs.

Also, if the BE server is a fresh install, or in any other way has never used the tapes you're attempting to now catalog, run an inventory on each tape.
I believe your getting the error because backupexec was unable to find the catalog information on the tape (which is usually at the end of the backup set).
