Certance CP3100 D2D2T system

I have installed a Certance CP3100 system onto a Win2k SP4 server using a SCSI in the "in" slot and the SCSI "out" slot is connected to a Dell PV122T. I can not get Backup Exec to recognize the CP3100 as robotic. Do I need to purchase the Library Expansion to have both devices recognized as robotic? Also, Certance (now Quantum) does not have any installation/configuration information that deals with Backup Exec. Their answer was that it can be done with the correct configuration but would not provide that configuration!
Can you provide something to me that is specific to Backup Exec?

Hello,

Backup exec provides support for unlimited stand alone tape drives and 1 drive of the robotic library. For every additional drive, you need to purchase the Library Expansion option. If that is the case, you can contact our sales team for information regarding licensing ad purchasing at:

If that is not the case, in order to resolve the problem, you can perform the steps as mentioned in the technote given below:

Title: How to resolve hardware communication/detection issues with Backup Exec

Hope this helps. In case the problem persists, do write back to the forum. However if we do not receive your update within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Hello,

Follow the below mentioned steps to configure the device in Backup Exec.

1.The device should be first detected by operating system.
Note:If the device is not detected by Windows Backup Exec will not recognize it.

2.Check if the device which you are using is compatible with Backup exec v9.1.
Refer the following link:-

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/271383.htm

3.If the device is comaptible and is tested with Backup Exec then install the latest Veritas device drivers:
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273853.htm

4.if the device is compatible but not tested then install the Original Equipement Manufacturers drivers.

5.Run the device configuration wizard.
