Chnage to Media Set

I changed the media set from Infinite - don't allow overwrite/not appendable to 6 weeks/infinite allow append.

However, when the job runs, some jobs take the new setting, but most keep the old setting.

Why is this happening?

What do you mean that some jobs use the old settings?

Hi,

Create a new media set. Assign new Overwrite and Append properties to it and move the medis to this newely created media set.

Perform a test backup and verify the results.

when a new job runs based on this media set, the overwite and append settings remain with the old setting of no overwite/not appendable.

Sounds like the media set definition maybe corrupt,

Try Anoop's suggestion, create a new media set, drag the tape volumes to it (they will immediatelyi take on the Overwrite and Append settings) and try a test job pointed at the new media set.

Hello,

We would like to know whether you are using 9.1 If yes then please verify whether your issue is the same as explained in the technote:

After an upgrade, VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers displays "Overwrite Protected Until" as "Infinite - Don't Allow Overwrite" when a piece of media is no longer appendable due to being full or damaged.

If yes please install SP2 which has hotfix 3 included

Thanks,
