Clean Job Fails, Backup Jobs Are OK

Backup Exec for Windows v10.0 Rev 5484 SP1
Spectra Logic 2K library with 2 SONY SDX-500C AIT drives. Firmware 0205

The scheduled cleaning job on one of the drives (drive A) fails with "Physical Volume Library Drive not found".

The cleaning job on the other drive runs fine.

The scheduled backup job sent to Drive A runs just fine. No errors.

Both drives show up fine under the Devices tab.

New cleaning tape in a designated slot.

WTF??

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look at it and see if anything applies.

It's odd that both drives have the same firmware and drivers and both run good backup jobs jet the clean job generates errors on only one.

I read the article your link pointed to and while most of it was applicable for a drive showing as "offline", mine wasn't, I did recheck the driver and found that the drive did NOT have a Veritas driver as I first thought.

This drive had been replaced recently and still had a Sony driver.

I updated the driver and in the meantime installed BE SP3. (we were on SP1)

That still did not fix the issue.

So, I deleted the cleaning job for this drive and set it up again. Ran the job and it works fine now.

Thanks.
