Configure email notification ?

Hi,
Our email server is hosted off site and we use SMTP server provided by AT&T with our DSL service to send emails. The SMTP server requires authentication to send email, i.e. we have to specify a password for the send server while configuring for example Outllook. How do we configure Backup Exec to send email via a SMTP server that requires authentication ? Is there any other way to configure notifcation ?
