Ok well here is my question/delema.... i currently run a storageworks MSL4048 with 4 Tape drives, it holds 48 LTO4 Tapes.
Now i know i can create a second job that will create a "copy" of a tape/backup set. What i am looking to do is take the 4+ tapes that will get written to in the backup job and copy those tapes to as few tapes as possible to be moved offsite. I am just not sure if this will work. Right now all the tapes are seen as one big media set, was thinking about carving out a OFF SITE area?
So in a nutshell i want my jobs to run durning the night, after the jobs have run a second job runs and copies all the data from the tapes that were written to, to another set of tapes that will go off site, now i know i can do a tape to tape copy, but i want to try to fill up a tape before it grabs another one to limit how many tapes have to go off site?
