D2D2T - Best Practice

Hi,

we have some Windows Servers which should backuped by a Backup Exec 12.5 Server with agents installed on the remote systems. We want to implement a strategy as follows:

1. Backup from the remote system to local RAID5 on the Backup Server.
2. After successful Job (1) copy the backup to the TAPE
3. After successful Job (2) delete the backup files on the RAID-system

Problem is part (3) - if they are not deleted, there is after while no free space on the RAID. The backup files may be overwritten by BackupExec, but this slows down the system extremely.

Thank you in advance for any help

kind regards,

Marc

??  it should be faster, since you don't have the overhead of creating each BKF file

AFAIK, there is no way to "auto delete" bkf files from within BackupExec

I suppose you could place a POST job with the DUPLICATE to tape that executes only on success which  would execute a command file to delete all BKF files in the B2D folder

The problem with that is that BackupExec would still think that they are there, and list then in the catalog as active media
