DLT Tape Compression

I've read that most backups cannot be successfully restored. Does data compression add to this problem?

How do I configure Backup Exec to compress b/u data on 40 - 80 DLT tape (i.e. back up more than 40GB of data)?

Thank you,

Hello,

Regarding your question "I've read that most backups cannot be successfully restored. Does data compression add to this problem?" - I would like to mention here that if the backup job is 100 % successful i.e without any error or exceptions, restore job should be successful.

Therefore it is must that the backup is successful.

Regarding compression, I request you to read the following technote which talks about the compression:

Backups fail to get double the amount of the native capacity recorded to a media, even when hardware compression is being utilized.

Hope it helps you.
