Data Transfer Rate

I purchased an external USB 2.0 high speed drive; I installed backup Exec 10d and configured my policy and backups. It has been taking a long time to complete the backup now that I am using this drive vs. my Tape system. So far it has done about 9gig in 3hours. The transfer Rate is 54MBs per Min which I thought is really slow considering I am writing to a local High speed Drive.

Also If anyone knows what the average write speed should be to local drive that would be good for me to benchmark this with too.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks

Does your Media Server have USB 2.0 ports, or are the 1.0?

The Server is a HP Proliant ML350, It says =

- HP hardware supports USB 2.0, but devices will run at 1.1 speeds in legacy mode.

When the drive detected it came up and said found USB 2.0 Hard Drive. Normally if it is a 2.0 device and the ports were 1.0 it would give you a messege saying the device would run faster with a USB 2.0 port. I didn't get that.
