Decommission domain used in encrypted backup

I have used Backup Exec 12 R1364 to backup data. The tapes are hardware encrypted using an encryption key restricted to a domain account.

I now wish to decommission the domain.

How can I be sure that I can restore from the encrypted tapes when the domain account no longer exists?

Change the encryption key to unrestricted before you delete the account
