Deduplication and Media Set Properties

Hello,

i have a question about the Media Set Property "Append period" and a Deduplication Storage Folder. If in a backup job is select "Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available" in teh Section "Device and Media" and the Media OST00000012-xxxx is infinite, backup exec take a new medium from Scratch Media and not added to the OST00000012-xxxx. With the same option and a B2D-Folder this works fine, the next backup job added the backup files to the Media in the B2D-Folder. But not with a Deduplication Storage Folder. I have many Ost000xxxx -Media's with used capacity 2gb or 10gb although 50gb is available. Is this not possible to added on a Media in the Deduplication Storage Folder?

OST Deduplication Media cannot be appended...

Thats by design and You cannot Append to the Existing media for OST. As OST is Just Ref Link and the exact Media for dedupe device

Remember that deduplication was bolted on to BackupExec not built into from the ground up.  So media (which emulates AIT) is there for BackupExec to use and manage based on it's traditional usage.  Though you as an admin should ignore for the most part the capacity metrics and media counts reported in the console.
