Defective Media

I have had several new Sony DDS-4 tapes that backup very slow and some that won't even mount I can't even retention them. I try to cancel the job but it hangs. I can eject the tape by pressing the drive eject button, but I can't shut down the BE10 services and the job won't cancel. I have to power cycle the server to cancel the job. I have several other Sony, Fuji and TDK dds-4 tapes that work just fine. Has anyone seen this before where bad tapes can hang the server?

Hello Eric,

Perform the same using Windows NTbackup to isolate the issue.


Alternatively erase the media and run the backup and verify the results.
