Likewise... My next step is to reinstall the BE 10 to another server and cross my fingers it works. It is horrible that as I look over my nightly logs and turn my device back online every morning that anywhere from 1gb - 150gb out of 600-1000gb's are backed up before the system fails.

I might be late in the game with this but thought I'd put it up since it's been driving me crazy for the past month.

You all may have figured this out already, but go to your selections listing for each job and view it as text. Make sure all the paths it's trying to back up are there. I had some orphan paths that didn't exist anymore. I removed them and it fixed my problem with the 'drive hardware is offline'. (BEv.10.1 rev5629)

Don't get me wrong, the BE engine still crashes every night, but I have the services set to restart themselves when it fails.

There's a bandaid for you until symantec makes it better...

Good thought.

I blew away my old configs and rebuilt it from scratch. Same issue.

You can write me up for the same errors.

We're running w2k3 sp1, BE10.1 (no sp/notfix) and are having the same problems when backing up to disk.

Do something...

Hello,

Verify if system event logs showing event id's 7, 9, 11 or 15.

Also install latest drivers.

Deepali,

I don't know to which post you're replying so I hope you don't think I'm being rude here (nor stupid), but I fail to see how a _Tape_ Driver Update will help me with my backup-2-disk problem?

People has blewn their installations and konfigurations, putting in efford and time without being able to avoid this issue. After hours of reinstalling and testing all you guys give us is a "please download and update your tape drivers", even after we've stated that we have this issue _without_ doing any tape backup at all...Please tell me there's something more you can do?!!!

Regards,

Patrik

Edit: Deepali, the Tape Drivers you posted doesn't run on BE 10.1 (b5269), their intended to run on a b5520-installation. Thats BE version 10.0 right?! As a couple of us wrote, we also have problems with the 10.1 version.Message was edited by:
