Drive Offline.. could it be a default option... Catalogue or Log Size?

We have two Veritas Backup Exec v9.1 (SP1) servers, each with their own LTO libraries and not connected in any way. Both servers (W2K SP4), backup devices (newest firmware upgrades, etc...) and Veritas were built fresh from the ground up and they worked flawlessly until about 2 weeks ago. Then suddenly and for no apparent reason they started randonly failing jobs with a drive offline error. Note that not all jobs fail all the time and when the issue is not happening all jobs run normally. Neither the Event Viewer nor Veritas reports any specific error codes that might reveal the nature of thius odd issue. The cabling, etc... is okay and nothing has changed from a pure hardware perspective. Is it possible that a setting within the default Veritas option has been modified that could cause these issues. Specifically, something like the database (defaults used) size, or catalogue size... etc... Any insights appreciated!

Hello,

1. The drive going offline is not related to the catalogs.

please verify if the drive is compatible with Veritas Backup Exec v9.1. If it is compatible and explicitely tested with v9.1, then you can try installing the latest drivers, otherwise you can use the drivers provided by the drive manufacturer.

The compatibility list link the mentioned below:

1. Backup Exec 9.x for Windows Servers Robotic Library Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) (includes tested drives)

Please refer to the link mentioned below to download the latest Veritas drivers:

Also check for id 7,9,11,15 in the system event log and write back
