Drive offline - Using external hard drives

Is there a way to make Backup Exec 10 rescan for media when a job starts? I have rotating external usb hard drives and every time I unplug one to switch them out, the drive goes offline and does not come back until physically marked online in the software. I would very much like for the software to automatically rescan for media or just recognize that the media is plugged back in. The drives are identical and have the same name, etc. Can you please help?

As a work-around you could schedule a restart of the BE-Services.
This will make BE do an inventory.

Just create a batch file that stops and starts the services and add it to the Task Scheduler.

Hi Trent,

You have to restart the services everytime you change the USB drive. Then only it will recognize the new media.

Unfortunately, there is no way to recognize a new media automatically.
