Duplicate B2D to tape is VERY slow

I am testing the B2D functionality and the duplicate to tape so I can use backup to disk rather than backup to tape.

Backping up to tape directly from disk though a backup job --> Very fast.

But if I set up a policy to backup to disk then duplicate to tape --> The speed from disk to tape using the policy method backs up at less that 10% of the speed of backup straight to tape.

I even did a backup of the .bkf (regular backup) and it runs very fast.

Has anyone else experienced this bad performance and has anyone been able to solve it? I have not called symantec yet, but was curious if others had the same issue.

Thanks in advance for any info

Is the tape device on it's own SCSI controller? or at the very least it's own channel?

or is it sharing a channel with the disk drive?

Hi David, did you resolve this issue? I have always had similar problems with duplicate jobs - they're very slow.

Regards,
Nathan.
