Email alerts

Hi

I am trying to set up email alerts on our backup exec server, this is working on another server, althought that is a newer version.

i am not getting the email alerts or a test message.

i tried using server name as well a s ip address, is there anything i can check like permissions or group membership.

Are you trying to use Outook/Exchange to send these EMails?

If so, have you logged on to the Media Server as the BackupExec Service Account and created the Outlook Profile and send and received EMail to initialize it?

Hi

I managed to get it working by allowing the server to relay through itself which is normally locked down, i found this out by checking the event viewer, and noticing relay failure messages from Back up exec to my email address. once i added the ip address of the server in the Relay tab all was well

This was the case on about ten different clients, which are now happily emailing me, whether the relay tab within exchange should be allowing this is debatable, but it lets the emails through which is what i wanted.
