Running BackupExec 2016 on a Windows 2012R2 server with x2 different SAS cards with external connectors. One is a HP SmartArray P411, the other is an Areca ARC-1882X. We currently have an external Enhance DS316JS SAN attached to the Areca card, and a Dell Powervault 124T tape drive connected to the P411. Our normal backup routine is to backup from server to the SAN, then a duplicate job of the SAN to tape. Would we be better served in regards to throughput, to have both external devices(SAN & tape) running off a single card, say the P411? For the most part our servers to SAN speed is decent, but our SAN to tape varies wildly and isn't as fast as what I think it should be.
