Error - Mount failed. User canceled....

Often during our full backup on Fridays, I'm getting the message:-

Error Mount Failed.
User cancelled a Physical Volume Library operation.

I have read various threads on this topic and have checked:-
the tape is inserted,
the overwrite period does not apply,
the job runs with Administrator permissions,
the tape is not damaged (I recently changed twice).

What other reasons can there be for this?

Hello,

The error "Media mount failed. User cancelled a Physical Volume Library operation" occurs due to following reasons:

1) Job exceeds capacity of media

2) A cartridge is not inserted in the Backup Device

3) The robotic arm cannot load the cartridge

4) An internal or stand-alone drive will not accept the media

5) The cartridge is protected by overwrite or append periods
6) Hardware, bad media or incorrect driver

To resolve this issue, refer to the following guidelines:

1. Perform the cleaning operations of Tape Device 3-4 times by using fresh cleaning cartridge in the Tape Drive. Run a test backup and verify the results. Check the tape drive users manual for device specific cleaning instructions.

2. Try to run a test backup using fresh media and verify the result.

3. Make sure you are using VERITAS drivers.

Sorry I've been offsite and didn't get a chance to try this yet. Can you please give me until Friday before moving it to "answered"?
