The backup failed last night and I got this error. The M drive is not involved and the backup failed when attempting to connect to a remote server. The backup went without a hitch on the local server. "A communications failure has occured". The remote agent service is running on the remote server.

What data are you backing up on the remote server?

If it is exchange please enable support for restrict anonymous and then observe the result:

Also please check whether the 2 servers can ping each other

The remote server contains various data types, but not any exchange data. The past two backups have gone without any problems.
