Exchange Agent fails during a GRT mailbox restore

HEX
Level 3

Im using Exec 2010 R3, Servee 2008, Exchange 2010, on an ESXi host. The back up runs fine. The agent and core are up to date. I have removed the agent and reinstalled.

It had worked in the past with 2010 R2, then after I started to have issues, I moved to 2010 R3 hoping this would be fixed.

Where are the backups taken? Is it on Disk or Tapes?

Just to confirm is both Backup Exec and Exchange running on VM (same VM) ??

Thanks,

-Sush...

To a single tape. The exec server is not running on a VM. Exchange is a VM, exec is not.

Since it is VM environment are the backups taken directly using the Remote Agent on the Exchange server or is it taken using the Backup Exec VmWare agent and then trying to restore individual Exchange items using the Application GRT feature.

Thanks,

Just Exchange Agent. It has worked before up to this point.

Do you everytime see some common errors in event viewer,
just before be remote agnet fails. from MS exchange, VSS etc

Just for testing peupose can you try to duplicate the job to Disk and then test the GRT restore of Exchange.

Also ensure that the staging location used when restoring from tapes in excluded from On-access scan of any anti-virus if installed on the Media server.

Thanks,

The job moves past staging to restoring and fails near the end.

Do you have enough space in staging location

Check restore job properties - Advanced - temp location (need enough room here, local to media server)

also under Exchange tab -staging location (This would be on Exch server/not much needed here but should be a vaild location.)

Or try duplicating job to disk and then restore (As "Sush suggested above)

I guess I could try a restore from disk.
