Hello,
we have two back-ups failing, and can't get the solution. the version of BU Exec is:
Backup Exec 2010 R3 with SP2 and patched with the latest patches.
situation:
File-backup to disk, is failing with the following error:
Backup- \\xxx\D:
V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied.
Access denied to directory xxx
None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up.
V-79-57344-65033 - Directory not found. Cannot backup directory xxx and its subdirectories.
We have tried to give the back-up account full control on the D Volume, and tried to back-up by the administrator account but the error stays.
Exchange-backup to disk, is failing with the following error:
Backup- \\xxx\Microsoft Information Store\MailboxDatabase-A-F
V-79-57344-65247 - A failure occurred reading an object.

We have tried to re-register the VSS dll's in microsoft. also we have set the exchange maintenance on 20:30 - 21:00, and let the backup begin at 21:00.
after a reboot of the exchange server, the backup runs fine for 1 time! but the next run the exchange backup failed again.

...2 job at the same time? Did you change the run time of 1 of them too?

the file back-up issue is fixed. the problem was the VMware backup that back-upped the D volume of the file server at the same time as the File backup.
the exchange back-up keeps giving errors:
we don't use AOFO in the exchange back-up, so i dont understand where the error is coming from..

Hi
Exchange writer is in failed state ,so if you restart the exchange server & then after restart confirm all writers are stable & then run backup to see how that works
Also ensure windows is fully patched up on exchange server
Thanks

as we restart the exchange server, the backup is running succesfull for 1 time.
the next run is the same error.
exchange server is fully patched with windows updates.
we don;t have installed Exchange 2010 SP2. so that is our next step.

...follow up with Microsoft too and make sure that there are no outstanding patches for Windows that might fix this issue with the VSS writers...

the backup is running fine now.
we have scheduled the exchange, file and sql backup first, and then vmware.
the problem was the vmware backup made snapshot from the D volume, and the file backup want to backup at the same time the D volume
