Excluding files with Exchange and SQL agents

I am using 9.1 on a Windows SBS with the Exchange and SQL agents. Are there any files or folders that I can safely exclude from the job selections because they are already covered be the Agent(s) in the interest of saving tape space?
thanks

v9.1 already bypassess all .EDB and .MDF files

if you want to shut down SQL and Exchange and do a flat file backup of the whole system, see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/259152.htm

This is recommended by Microsoft to be done periodically.

Just a little clarification. In addition to running the two agents, I am also backing up the local drives. Can I safely deselect the .edb or .mdf files that are checked bydefault?
thanks

Yes.

Even though they get checked on the selection list, at run time, BackupExec will skp them - and NOT post a "File Skipped" message.

You can verify this by checking the catalog to verify that the files were not backed up even though they were selected and not marked as skipped in the BackupLog
