Faulting application bengine.exe

occasionally this error appears in the error log -
"Faulting application bengine.exe, version 10.0.5520.0, faulting module catupgrade.dll, version 10.0.5520.0, fault address 0x00010033."

It causes all the backup exec services to stop and none of our backup jobs run. We are using windows server 2003 standard this error can occur when there are jobs running or when you open up backup exec it sometimes shuts it self down and this same error will apper in the event log.

Try analysing user.dmp using debug tools to find out the reason why Jobengine is getting terminated.
Look out for APC Powerchute is running(lower than ver 7), if it is , then uninstall it

please explain about the user.dmp files and how I can view them, power suit 7.0.2 is installed however uninstalling it is not feasible since it is controlling our UPS systems

Hello Luca,

You can follow the the following steps:

1. Stop ALL Backup Exec services (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services).

2.Go to Program Files\Veritas\BackupExec\NT. Rename the Catalogs folder.

3.Start ALL Backup Exec services (Tools > backup Exec services).

4. Re-catalog the media.

Note: After performing above steps all the catalog information will be lost. Re-catalog operation on all media will be required.
