Final Error 17 - Data Error

I am receiving a data error cyclic redundancy check. We have version 9.1 build 4691. I have checked the tape drive with manufactures test software-- Passed.
The unit has been running over 2 years and this is a new issue that has come up. Double checked terminations on SCSI controller as per some of the other posts and was wondering what else could be causing this error.

What if you replace your tape(es) ?

Hi Donald,

You could also try replacing the tape and check. Also try installing the latest device drivers for the version 9.1.

Here is the link:

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only)

Thank you for your quick responses, but I have already tried to follow the checklist and have downloaded new drivers. I have opened a new box of tapes and have tried older ones as well. The same error occurs with all tapes.

Hello,

- Try performing erase operation on the tape.

Kindly refer the following Document for the same:

What is a quick erase / long erase and when should it be carried out?

Thank You,

Shweta
