Final error: 0xe000810d - Physical Volume Library Media not found.

I have been getting the below error when a back up is started with current media in the drive. These same tapes worked fine the previous week but will not this week. I tried to follow what the link suggested for version 9.x (running version 10) but I don't get the option to recatalog. It is grayed out. I need to get this fixed ASAP as backups have been failing for a bit now. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve

Seem like it could not found the media...
are you using barcode label??? if yes, make sure it properly sitted and the backgroud color must be white so that the barcde reader able to read it.

hard to say from far away....

try the following: move the tape to retired media and once this is done, right mouseklick the tape and delete it.
This will delete the tapes entry in the database as well as the corresponding catalog file.
If that worked, re-inventory the tape - it should come up as imported media (Backup Exec and Windows Backup Tape)

Try your backup or recatalog again.

Still no success ? Try a brand new tape - same problem or not ?

Hope it helps

Hello,

1.Please check whether the device is "tested" in the compatibility list.
If yes then please install latest veritas drivers from the link below:

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273853.htm

If not then please install the latest OEM drivers

2.
If the above provided solution does not work please delete the device and re-create it with the following steps:
1.Open Backup Exec click on the devices tab Right-click the device that you are using, and click Properties

2.Click the Configuration tab, clear the Enable for Backup Exec checkbox, and click OK. The device will be disabled now.
3. Right-click the device, and click Delete

4. Now Power off the device and shut down the server
5. Next power on the device wait for it to initialize and then reboot the server and recycle the Backup Exec services again.

Thanks,

Nope no barcode readers. Nothing has really changed from the previous days. They are standard SDLT tapes with the days hand written on the tag in the front. Nothing special... any other ideas?

Hello,

Please check in the event logs for errors. Inform us if you find any 9's or 11's in the system event logs. Please refer to the following MS article for troubleshooting such errors.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314093

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255501.htm

Also install the latest veritas device drivers for BE 10.0.

http://support.veritas.com/docs/277477

And also the changer should be connected to a SCSI Id lower than that of the tape drive. Also do not connect them to Id 0 or 1.

I was able to get to work by following a previous suggestion to move it to retired and back again. That seemed to work. Thank you
