Full Restore from server to desktop

Hi,
I need someone to shed some light on some of my queries.
I have an IBM server running and i was wondering whether is it possible to full restore to a desktop pc?

Any method without using Automated IDR?
The original server is using scsi hdd but PATA on the desktop.

This method will only be used a last resort for my disaster recovery plan.
