Full backup of remote server, then import job into bue2012

Here's the issue.. i have a number of servers dotted around the country and have one backup exec 2012 media server which will be the only controller.

Can i take a full backup of a site server, copy the .bkf files and "import" these into the backup exec server at my central site? I then want to run incrementals from this full backup.  is this possible and how? this is to save on WAN traffic and time to take the initial full backup..

any help appreciated.

Would not recommend to "copy" the .bkfs and here's why -

https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH176061.html

You could consider using the CASO feature which comes along with the Enterprise Server Option and the DeDuplication option. Have a look @ this whitepaper -

Additionally, here is a KB for "seeding" - https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH163110.html

No. You cannot do this with our without using a dedup file. You m just do a full backup and the subsequent incremental backups on the same server. Also, you cannot do incremental backups forever. You need to do full backups fairly frequently. Otherwise, you will have a lot of incremental backups to restore when you do a restore
