Going from Windows 2003 Small Business Server to Windows 2008 Server Standard

We are going to be upgrading our W2K3 SBS to Windows 2008 Standard. We currently have Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 for SBS installed on the server.  Is there a way to upgrade the Symantec BE to work on W2K8 Standard without buying an entirely new copy?

Hello,

Install SP3 for 12.5 so it will be ready for Server 2008. Then upgrade to W2008 SBS.

Hope this helps...

Well assuming Windows 2008 Standard is not the R2 version then the same installer should work - but you will need different licenses - especially as you will need a BE media server license and and Exchange Agent License and a SQL Agent License. You will have to talk to our Sales organization or your reseller to sort out the licenses.

If it will be 2008 R2 then you will have to use BE 2010 not 12.5
