I have a Dat 72 that thinks it's a Dat40.. The most I can backup using official HP Dat72 (DDS-5) tapes is 24gig. I have backup Exec 10.1 with SP3 and installed the newest tape device drivers. It's weird... If you look at devices.. the the properties of a new tap it shows a capacity of 20gig. I'm stumped.. I know that a Dat 72 should be natively backing up 36gig. What am I missing here? I went in to devicew manager and confirmed that the driver being used is a Symantec driver.
When I look at the properties of the tape drive in Backup Exec it shows the correct C7438a.. and under media types the highest it shows is DDS-4 20gb
