Hi,

1) You get the following error message;

"Backup- \\XX\Microsoft Site Replication Service\SRS Storage WARNING: "\\XX\Microsoft Site Replication Service\SRS Storage\SRS MDB" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify"

The migration process from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 requires the use of the Site Replication Service (SRS). The Site Replication Service is a directory service, which bridges the gap between the Exchange 5.5 DS and Active Directory. The SRS notifies the Exchange 5.5 servers about the entire Exchange 2000 infrastructure, which then enables directory replication between the two systems. It does this intrasite replication through RPC calls.

This allows the Exchange 2000 server to share configuration information with other Exchange servers in a mixed-mode organization. A copy of the directory is maintained in the SRS.EDB database.

The Site Replication Service database is protected with Backup Exec by selecting the SRS Storage object for backup. After a migration to an Exchange 2000 only environment, it is suggested that the Microsoft SRS be removed. Once the SRS has been removed, if the object is still selected as part of a Backup Exec backup job, the above error will be written to the job log file.

To overcome the problem it is suggested to deselect the Microsoft Site Replication Service and exclude the SRS.MDB file from the backup selections.

If, after deselecting the Microsoft Site Replication Service in the graphical Backup Selections list or if the SRS is not visible in the list, the error still occurs, perform the following steps. Manually edit the Backup Selections in the text version of the selection list as described below:

1. Within Backup Exec select the backup job go to Backup Job Properties.
2. Go to Selection List and choose Text version as display type for the backup job.
3. Highlight the directory \\server name\Microsoft Site Replication Service\ SRS Storage and delete it.

2)You are also getting the error;

"Backup- C: The item C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Applicationata\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat in use - skipped"

For this kindly refer the technote:
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/269411.htm

3) When you backup Exchange database through the Exchange agent it is not required to select the "Exchsrvr" directory in the selections.Kindly de-select the directory.

Once you have followed the above steps your issue will be resolved.

Additional, we upgraded from exchange NT Small Business Server 4.0 or 4.5 to a windows 2003 standard enviroment / exchange enterprise 2003 mail enviroment.

Thanks the the info. Its been a hellish week but I have time today to try these changes. Thanks I will keep you posted on the progress.

Would this still be an issue for SBS2003? I see the error in the log. I've no other Windows Server (no other exchange box) - so am I safe to just de-select SRS from the backup selection?
