Hotfix 2 for Version 9.0

If you make it a requirement to apply this patch before attempting to apply a new tape driver, why was it removed . I used a link from the document:
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/267151.htm that points me to:
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/267153.htm which cannot be found. I want to apply a newer tape driver but am unable to do so without hotfix 2.

Remember not everyone can update to a newer version in production. I cannot update to Version 9.1 or 10 at this time.

Why can't you upgrade to v9.1? It's a free upgrade and will accept all your v9.0 serials. All it takes is about 15 minutes and a re-boot. (Not a whole bunch longer that the driver update, which also requiers a re-boot) Schedule yourself some maint time after work this week and just do it.

And if you go to http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/261561.htm you'll see that HotFix 2 has been rolled into v9.0 SP1

Your response is not accurate. I have installed (and REINSTALLED) Backup Exec (tm) 9.0 for Windows Servers revision 4454 - Service Pack 1 , and when I try and install the tape drivers, it still tells me I need to have HotFix 2 loaded.

Hello,

Please verify it might just be a warning, click on it and continue the installation of SP1 and verify the result.

Thanks,

Ken,
The company I work for has a "certification process that is required" for applications that run on the servers. The requirements for Hotfixes/service packs are different than version increments. It is their requirement not my preference. I have applied SP1 for 9.0, and when trying to apply the tape driver updates for Intel, both versions 38 & 41 complain they need Hotfix 2. Apparently the driver update is looking for something that wasn't included in the Service pack 1.

I still need the link to Hotfix 2 for tapedriver installation.

Hello,

This hotfix has been rolled into SP1 and hence is no longer available. You may install the same and verify the result.

If it was actually rolled into the Service Pack, why does the driver installation still check/require it? Fortunately I still had a copy of the actual hotfix two available. After applying the service pack the driver install still demands the hotfix... After I applied the hotfix 2 I was able to use the driver install without issue.

Note: I did not have to reboot between the application of the patches/packages. After all work was completed I restarted the system.
