I want to know how the process of verification of backup exec 2012 r3 backup works

As the backup set is saved on the media, there are some checksums saved as well.  During the verification process, the backup set is read back and the checksums are re-calculated and compared with the saved checksums.  If they all match, then the verification passes.  During the verification process, BE does not access the server/device from which the backup set comes from. This applies to all versions of BE.
