How to backup shared directories in a WORKGROUP?

We have one server running Windows Server 2003 R2.
It is connected to a network and belongs to a WORKGROUP.
The other Windows PCs in the workgroup have shared directories.
We want to backup the PCs shared directories and some server directories.
We just purchased Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 Server Suite.
During the installation the software license keys for the
"BEWS 12.5 Desktop and Laptop Option" would not install
because the server did not belong to a domain.

When BackupExec is run the Backup Wizard displays
"What items would you like to backup?"
The PCs shared directories are all greyed out, unselectable.

Can I backup shared PC directories in a workgroup onto the server
using Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 Server Suite?
If I can't then what software version would allow this functionality?

Hi

If I'm thinking right, you should be able to go into Tools/Options/Network and Security - from there, tick the box marked "Enable selection of user shares" then click OK.

Hopefully this should let you select the shares you need.

Thanks Doug, that did it.

Hi!

I have the same problem, but for the server machines. It´s not possible to backup a shared folder from a Windows Server (from another server, of course)?
