Hi All
We are running symantec backup exec 12.5 and I have been trying to clear up some space on the server. I notice that there was alot of these files and wanted to move them somewhere else because they are huge. (Check screenshot below)

However, I notice the next day that there are more files appeared which look the same and the space I freed up has gone again. I am sure that I have stopped the scheduled backup looking at the job monitor:
Could anyone help me idenitfy why its still running when it clearly says 'on hold'. The server is small business server 2008.

Hi
Believe me if I new we had support I would be on the phone to symantec but I am pretty certain its ran out unfortunetly. Its an option in future to set up a new support agreement but would have to clear that with my boss who is on holiday.
In regards to there being another backup software, there is something called I backup for windows on the server which was probably installed because the last it manager couldnt figure out symantec. I have looked to see where it is backing up to and cant seem to see it. Heres a log from it taken on the 17th:
Could this have something to do with it? I thought the VERITAS folder and imgfiles would be to do with symantec
Thanks

Backup for Windows can create .BKF files - and nothing stops the person who configured the backup within it from specifiying a folder within a stucture that might have been created by Backup Exec as a target. As such gut feeing is you have 2 backup products on the system both configured to create bkf fiels but ONLY one on hold. - Especially as that log you posted shows current activity.

Hello Colin
I will try and disable the backup for windows software and see if this stops the .BKF files from occuring. Once I have done this I will free up 4 gb from the veritas drive to test this and move it back after the test.
Thanks

It seems it was IBackup after all creating the .BKF files. Just need to figure out how to get backup exec to do the job now, thanks colin.
