I have been able to do complete backups and restores of my hyper-v vms with Backup Exec 2012.  I can restor whole vms and vhds, but I cannot find where to restor a file or folder from within my vm backups?  What am I missing?  I have the grt on.

Refer to page 543 and 547 in the following admin guide

 http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5211

Also when restoring select the windows server name as seen by the DNS and not the VM itself "Prior to clicking on restore"

Hi,

Make sure the remote agent has been installed on your virtual machine. As Donald stated above, when you go through the actual Physical server name you should be able to see the individual files and folders.

see this link for a image of this, http://www.gosymantec.com/Agent-Hyper-V.asp

If you still have issues make sure you are updated to the most current hotfix.
