IDR restore unable to locate IBM Ultrium 3581 Autoloader

Hi,

I have updated the BE 10.0 with Service pack 1 and also the tape driver update (http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275676.htm).

After a full backup of the server, and the completion of the IDR Prep wizard I tried an IDR restore on the server.

It just seems that the IDR wizard was not able to find the restore media.

I tried stopping the Removable Storage service but the same problem keeps popping up.

Anybody know of a way to solve this?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

With regards to your query, it seems that you are not able to perform IDR recovery successfully.

- This may happen if the catalogs are corrupt or the .DR file was not updated. In order to resolve the issue, please use the assisted or the manual way of using IDR recovery wizard. By using this method, you will be able to see that the proper catalogs are used by specifying which .DR to use.

- Once you have used the assisted or the manual method, this should take care of the password issue also.

Please refer to the following technote:

- IDR Step by Step

We hope this will help.

Thanks.

Hi,

The .DR file is correct and i have also tried the assisted and manual method of IDR restore.
But it seems that when it reaches the "Loading SCSI drivers" part, the "Required Media Not Found" message box is encountered.

Here are the steps i did prior to running the IDR restore:
1) Installed Win2k3 from scratch
2) Installed SP1 from Microsoft
3) Installed BE 10.0
5) Installed SP1 for BE 10.0
6) Installed Veritas robotic library support (did not install Veritas tape driver support)
7) Performing a full backup of the system
8) Performing the IDR Prep Wizard
9) Update diskettes
10) Running IDR operation

It seems that IDR could not find the driver for the IBM autoloader.

Is there a way to get around this problem? I had no problems restoring files from within the Windows environment though.

By the way, I'm trying an IDR on the local machine.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the help. Managed to do it by using the IBM drivers instead of using Veritas drivers.
