Incremental backup backing up empty folders

Hi all,
Well, like the title says, we have setup a full backup once a week, then incremental backups Monday - Friday.  Up until recently everything was working fine, but now it looks like the full backups work, but the incremental backups are backing up empty folders even though there is data in them.

This is on a Windows 2003 server and we are using ver. 12 of Backup Exec.  Both full and incremental jobs are set to keep media set for 13 days.  I know there are some issues with the backup software and DFS, but DFS has been stopped. Any ideas??

Thanks

Are you using incremental based on modified time or archive bit? In order to select data for backup Incremental will need to use one of these as references. So, if using archive bit, verify that before incremental backup, the archive bit is turned on, on the files being backed up. If archive bit  is turned off, Incremental backup would not backup that file, considering that it has not changed. Also, the modified time of the file must be later than the full backup, for incremental to consider it as modified. Again, make sure both incremental and full are using same selection list, if using modified time as your reference attribute.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.
Thanks

It is set for archive bit.  How do I verify that it is turned on on the files that are being backed up?

Thanks for all your help.

right click -> properties on the file. Click on advanced tab. You should see "file is ready for archiving". If set, it means archive bit is selected and the file is ready for backup by incremental or differential backup. If this is unselected, which typically hapens after a full and incremental backup, incremental would not consider these files for backup. So, if checked.. archive bit is turned on... if unchecked, it is turned off.

Hope that helps.
Thanks
