Are you running an upgrade from 8.6? What is your OS?
Check the following:
- install MDAC 2.8 from the link below:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en
- also check the rights to the account used during install. Ensure that it is the domain admin account.
- if the issue persists, also look for errors in the Windows event logs.
Note that the Email support is available for install related cases. So you can contact our email team with the bkupinst and MSDE_BKUPEXEC logs in order to get the problem resolved.
