Hello,

I want to use an external USB drive to restore an image using IDRO. I have a DELL PowerEdge 2650 and have enabled USB support in the BIOS. When I boot into the IDRO GUI and select use locally attached device, the USB drive doesn't show up. Any idea why?

Thank you,

Is this USB drive a hard drive or a tape drive?

Thanks for the response!

It is a USB hard drive.

If the USB drive is not being seen at the local server, a workaround this is:

1) connect it to another server in the network
2) at the Select Restore Method, select "Use the network, and restore from a remote backup to disk folders.
3) then on the Detecting Media devices, select Nonremovable
4) map a network drive to the server that has the USB drive attach using the \\server-name\drive-letter$
5) follow the prompts until the restore is completed.

Sandra,

I have already tried to restore from a server on the netwotk using a Backup-to-Disk folder. When I browse for the windows domain, it doesn't appear. To fix this problem, I was hopefull that I could use a USB hard drive connected directly to the server needing restoration. When I browse my computer, I don't see the USB drive. Is there any other drivers that can be loaded using the F6 key to see a USB hard drive?

Thanks,
