I run exchange backups daily. Approximately once a week the job fails with the following error message:
V-79-57344-65235 - A failure occurred setting the Component backup status.
Writer Name: Microsoft Exchange Writer, Writer ID: {76FE1AC4-15F7-4BCD-987E-8E1ACB462FB7}, Last erro...
V-79-57344-34110 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\servername.local\Microsoft Information Store\...
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
Writer Name: Exchange Server, Writer ID: {76FE1AC4-15F7-4BCD-987E-8E1ACB462FB7}, Last error: The VSS...
Does anyone have any ideas? I figured it couldn't be settings as it runs perfectly 9 times out of 10. failures are not on consistent days or anything like that.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you backing up to tape or disk?
We were having the same and it's intermittent, happens on different exchange servers at different times.
Can be a memory leak caused by the Agent, can be due to backing up to tape.
Workaround for us is to backup to disk then off to tape. All errors have gone away. *Touch wood*
