Inventory and cataloguizing from media of BE 2010 not possible

Hi all,

i want to use Backup-Media (LTO 4) from old Backup Exec 2010 in my new Backup Exec 15 Environment with HP LTO6-Library 2048. So, the Library can read the LTO4-Tapes, but anything goes wrong during catalogization from LTO4-Tapes.

It still fails with error 0xe0000900.

Endgültige Fehlerkategorie: Backup-Medienfehler

Turn off the setting to request all media in the catalog sequence and then run a newly created catalog job.

Basically the error is an indication that at least one tape in the media family is not part of the current inventory

Media families grow by filling a tape in the middle of a job, as such this error is expected if you have already re-used earlier tapes in the family.

However it also could be indicative of a lost or temporarily missing tape and not an overwritten one against the usual scheduled tape handling -  it just depends on which tape is missing and the history of how the tapes were used.

Basically if you miss a tape in the middle of a family or at the end instead of the beginning, this is not usual tape handling behaviour. Slowly losing the tapes at the beginning of a family, as they become overwritable, is expected.
