After installing version 10 over version 8.5, I am now having a problem with the job engine not running. I am also having a problem with RRAS. I found the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842696 indicating that it is a problem with the Veritas tape drive. The system has a SDLT 220 drive that worked just fine with 8.5.
In order to isolate the issue, try the following :
- Install MDAC 2.8 from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en (copy and paste the entire link)
That does not fix the problem. I get several errors in the event log. One is event 54 about dlttape-VRTS and an incomplete Io Request. Rasman will not start either. It says it could not create buffers and to restart the computer. Have restarted it and still has the same problems. The Network Connections service fails to start as well.
Thanks for posting you resolution. I had the exact same error and this worked a treat. The only difference I had was that it had been working in 10.0 for a week and then when we replaced the tape drive it failed on boot.
