Job Rate low (Veritas 12.5, SAS)

Hello,

Hope everybody is doing fine. It's my first post, so take it easy on me.
We have two new external LTO-4 (dell) drives which are connected to the server via SAS. We use Backup Exec 12.5, on a windows 2003 server. Our issue is that the job rate showes a max of around ~480 MB/min.

I have checked the drivers and loaded the manufacturer and the Veritas driver but there is no change in the job rate. I also researched online but was not able to find help. Any ideas what could be the reason in the job rate?

On the same page, we used a external LTO-3 (SCSI) drive which performed on a rate of ~1500 MB/min. So it can't be the network/foundry switch.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

Hello,

The low rate can be caused by the backup of small files.
Check whether many small files are backed up.

Test with a database backup or an exchange database

well,.. the same exact job under a LTO-3 drive (SCSI) goes ~1500 MB/min, where the same job under a LTO-4 (SAS) goes ~480 MB/min....

I simple insterted the SAS card and lodaed the hardware driver.  Under Backup Exec 12.5 I've loaded manufacturer and Veritas driver but there is no change in the job rate....

Are there any additional settings I have to check?
