Just took over for a technician who is no longer with the company.  When attempting to start services for Back Up exec I get the following error in the system event log.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Date:  9/5/2007
Time:  2:57:32 PM
User:  N/A
Computer: SV71-BACK01
Description:
The Backup Exec Device & Media Service service terminated with service-specific error 536928979 (0x2000E2D3).
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Digging I find that the database server that Backup exec is pointing to no longer exists in the environment.

How can I recreate the database on a new SQL server so that I can reconfigure backups for the company?

You can use BEUtility.exe to change the location of the database to a different SQL Server instance.  BEUtility can be found in Backup Exec program directory:  C:\Program Files\Symantec\...etc.....
Just right click your media server inside of BEUtility and you'll see a bunch of different database tasks that can be performed.  Hope that helps!
