LTO 3 cartridge problems and BE 2010 R3

Hello everyone! I have got a problem, and i think i can solve her with your help.

So i have BE 2010 R3 with last updates and HP msl 2024 with new cartridges. I bought them about 6 months ago. So, in January I had a bug "e00084ec - Error reading/writing data from/to the media". Then I cleaned the tape and watched the behavior of the tape library. A week later, the problem persists. In total for the month 8 of 24 cartridges contain many  read/write errors and the job ends with an error. Drive changed 2 years ago, cleaned a couple of times. Tested using LTT "bad" cartridges complete testing Overwrite - all ok. Changed cable - no result. A feeling that every day is getting worse and worse, but I do not understand what the problem is.

Testing the cartridge with the largest number of errors:

Test drive - without errors. I can lay out a report if needed.

B2D runs without problems.

It seems to me that the problem is in a drive, but I can not explain to myself why. What i shall do?

Hi,

Check and make sure Symantec drivers are being used by the tape device.

In the Device Manger expand Medium Changer and it verify it shows as Unknown Medium Changer.  If not, update the driver so that it is using the Microsoft driver

What interface are you using?  (SAS, FC, old parallel SCSI)?

What HBA are you using?  Have you installed the latest drivers & firmware for it?

If the tape drive has a lot of read/write errors for a variety of tapes and the problem does not go way after you cleaned the drive, then the tape drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Even if you run the LT&T utility, select the write test and the tape drive passes the test, it still needs to be replaced.

Good morning!

Now rechecked - everything is OK. Used drivers from Symantec and Microsoft.

This is a bad news for me :(

So, I have a bad device and I can`t test it?

It is your choice.  You can either keep having job failures due to read/write errors or you can replace the tape drive.

You didn't answer what HBA you are using.

If it is a RAID capable HBA, make sure it is one of the few that are supported.  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH70907

oO, i am using HP Smart Array P400i

seems like he does not supported. Then, I do not know how  tape library worked for 6 years.

...

update. uups, i am using Atto expresspci ul5d lp scsi adapter on this server. So, this is not a problem.
