LTO tape accidentally allocated

hi guys,

 

one of my LTO tapes that I use for archive has been accidentally allocated to a job, now everything that was backed up on that LTO tape is gone. are there any way to revert it/ recover the files that was gone? is there any possibility, any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, no.  Once the tape is overwritten, the old data is gone.

Nope, the tape has been overwritten...pkh is correct.

In terms of making sure this does not happen in the future, you need to be awar that if Backup Exec need overwritable media, if it cannot find that media in the set defined in the job it will eventually make a choice to use overwritable media in any set that is located in the same target device.

As such if you don't want to overwrite media early than get your media set overwrite protection correct and never set the overall protection to None

 

I know this is kinf of closing the stable door after the horse has gone, I am just conerned that you might need to understand why your tape was accidentally overwritten and the above gives one reason.
